Mission Statement
At Community Free Will Baptist Church, we are called to:
make disciples, baptizing, and teaching them the Word of God. We will love our neighbor as ourselves, showing unconditional love to all.
Our History
Community Free Will Baptist Church was established on April 7, 1986, by Bishop Henry Harvey, Mother Luella Harvey, Elder Willie James Harvey, and Mother Mildred Harvey. On that day, the founding members marched into the church’s first home on Parker Street with a shared vision to serve God and the community. Just three years later, in April of 1989, the Lord blessed abundantly, allowing the congregation to move into our current location at 8715 Herlong Road, where we continue to worship and grow together.
Over the years, Community Free Will Baptist Church has been shepherded by dedicated leaders who built on the foundation laid by our founders. Elder James Leon Williams was installed as pastor in January 2013 and faithfully served until his passing in December 2020, alongside his wife, Mother Henrietta Williams, who became First Lady in January 2013.
Today, our church is led by Elder Pearce Ewing, Sr., Pastor, with the support of Elder Brenda Brown, Associate Minister. On April 23, 2023, Elder Ewing was voted in as pastor and officially installed on June 11, 2023. Under his leadership, our church family has grown and welcomed over 35 new members—a clear sign that God’s work in our ministry is just beginning.
At Community Free Will Baptist Church, we remain committed to faith, family, and fellowship as we continue to grow, serve, and spread the love of Christ throughout our community
